Nicky Rodriguez
illustrator, flatter, colorist
CV

Nicky is a disabled, queer Puerto Rican comic artist, flatter, and colorist. She is the creator of the ongoing webcomic, The Unlucky Ones and the Edge of Nowhere, and the illustrator of Con Papá/With Papá, authored by Frederick Luis Aldama. Starting with autobio zines that explored mental health, the impermanence of time and memory, existential ennui, and the meaning of home, Nicky continues to explore these themes in her fiction comics and is currently focused on her graphic novel endeavors and new zines about living with migraine and occipital neuralgia. Nicky specializes in expressive colors, the depiction of heartfelt emotions, and animated and expressive characters in her work and is primarily interested in illustrating upper YA and adult graphic novels and comics. Nicky is represented by Emmy Nordstrom Higdon of Westwood Creative Artists.
Things she'd love to work/collaborate on: slice-of-life, road stories, existential horror, Puerto Rican and Caribbean stories, queer stories (preferably not didactic), a Love Island type comic (maybe with a horror twist!)
